Negative Effects of TV Violence:
Watching several hours of television a day is part of most people’s daily routine. There are so many programs on TV, but some of it contains violence, unrealistic, language violence etc. It is seems like not a big deal but media violence may unconsciously affect the children and teenager. Those effects can be life-long, so we need to take this problem seriously. However, it is hard to report on how media violence affects society, since television affects different people in different ways. Now you probably will say that people are naturally violent, but there are many studies and research shows TV violence influence the children and teenager of their moral behavior and perception of the real world.
Firstly, as we all know, naturally violent nature is the root of the problem, but also need to recognize that the media is making naturally aggressive and violent behavior even more so. According to the research “violence exists in many forms and at multiple levels”. The universal definition of violence is, Any overt depiction of the use of physical force, or the credible threat of such force, to intend to physically harm an animated being or group of beings. And those often seem in the TV program. The violence on television is able to be more exciting and enthralling than the violence that is normally viewed on the streets. However, children don't always realize this is not the way thing are handled in real life. However we cannot blame all of those on TV program, because children are too young to understand and discriminate between right and wrong. For the most part, television is neither helpful or harmful to most kids under most circumstances. Television violence can destroy a young child's mind.
Secondly, television violence is not the only cause of children’s aggressive behavior but it is significant contributor for sure. It is very difficult to actually show how television violence affects the viewers. There are also a number of other factors that influence the way television affects people, for example: attitudes, knowledge, and personal interest. It cannot be suggested that this phenomenon of television violence is a single, significant cause which affects on society. We have to consider a large number of factors. We should not blame television while ignoring our own responsibilities as parents, caretakers, and adult. Besides those, television also needs to take large part of responsibilities, because very few television programs actually focus and emphasize on anti-violence themes, therefore it will be hard to control what kids receive from Television program. Some are trying to fight this problem. Others are ignoring it and hoping it will go away. Still others don't even seem to care, which will make situation whole lot difficult. From my point of view, TV is like a drug watching television to having an addiction with drugs and alcohol. Some people just cannot stop it or restrain themselves from being couch potato. Television experience allows people to escape from the real world and enter into a pleasurable and peaceful mental state. Some people consider television as a tool to escape from their problems or clear their minds. Television makes people come to expect all those things that happen in the program, but when they don't see it the world. It may becomes bland and in need of violence. The children then can create the violence that their mind craves. The television violence can cause actual violence in a number of ways. The effects of this violence can be long-lasting, an insidious influence that upsets moral balance and makes a child prone to aggressive behavior as it warps their perception of the real world. Research shows that it is definitely a major source of violent behavior in children. The research proves time and time again that aggression and television viewing do go hand in hand.
Thirdly, the truth about television violence and children has been shown. There are so many research and studies shows the significant evidence of TV violence affects on children. Tv violence will change children’s moral and behavior in the short term or even long term. According to the research, the major Tv violence influence in the short term which is the children will take “film and TV characters as models from whom children learn behavior which may be imitated in everyday life.” For the long term influence, Tv violence may affect on children’s mind development. Children may become immune or numb to the horror of violence. Some researchers even tapped into how the brain learns and stores this information. A child could have aggressive behavior which can be learned and then stored for future use. Furthermore, the Tv violence is not only effect children in a specific time. The case studies shows Tv violence effects on Children of Different Ages.
After considering the above arguments you have to agree that the people should be more concern about Tv violence. I strongly recommend that people need to take this problem seriously. This is important matter for our next generation.

Sad fact is violence is human nature. Their is little education for young people that states violence exists and is bad. I don't think i heard a good argument about violence until my late teens. But that maybe because i was old enough to understand it at that time.
ReplyDeleteI agree with some points! When I heard some informal languages from TV, I thought it will cause bad influences to young children because they could be learn and use it.
ReplyDeleteSome people became addicted to watch TV. They lose their control and could not focused on their work.
Although TV gives us negative effects, there are some TV programmes which are informative such as news or documentary.
I think parent's role is important to prevent children from these TV bad effects. Interesting topic and illustrate clear reasons to support your idea :)
a serious topic that we all should consider!
ReplyDeletetv programmes can be found in different categories and we MOSTLY learn and adpot things from what we see and hear~ and because of that, programmes like SOUTH PARK should be considered not situable for children.. afterall what we see on tv is likely to affect on how we think. violence scenes from movies could be used by a criminal and we don't want those tragity to happen in real life right?
suport your argument all the way:)
